Spain has signed an agreement with Mali to combat Islamic terrorism and also in an attempt to control illegal immigration.
Spanish Minister for the Interior, Alfredo Pérez Rubalcaba, is currently on a three-day tour of Mali, Senegal and Mauritania, to offer material resources and training for the police in these countries.

It’s believed that Mali is currently home to Al Qaeda training camps.

After reaching the agreement with the President of Mali, Amadou Toumani Touré, Rubalcaba said it would also help in the fight against organised crime. The document will be signed in Madrid in the next few weeks.
