More than 500 residents of Torrox gathered outside the village’s courts yesterday as one of the two Moroccan men linked to the death of a 35 year old local cook, Manuel S.R. The cook, known to his friends as ‘Chico’ or ‘Chicote’ and father of three, was found stabbed and beaten to death close to his father’s restaurant in Torrox Costa, in the gardens of the Bau Hoffmann urbanisation, early on Friday morning.

Witnesses saw him earlier in an argument with two Moroccan men, one of whom has been arrested and who declared in Torrox court yesterday morning.

Tensions were high as the public, including the victim’s widow Teresa Garcia. She told reporters that her husband was now in the cemetery, and she wanted justice so she could tell his children also where the man who killed him was being held in jail. The instruction judge in Torrox ordered prison on remand without bail for the first alleged killer.

A search is underway for a second Moroccan identified as having taken part in the fatal attack. La Opinion de Málaga notes that two protected witnesses, also foreigners, identified the two alleged attackers.
