A fax was sent from the Ministry of Justice to the Alicante Court on Friday informing of the decision by the cabinet not to grant a pardon to Luis Fernando Cartagena Travesedo.
It means that the 54 year old ex-councillor and ex Mayor of Orihuela will enter prison before August, having been found guilty in March 2002 in the so-called ‘monjes case’ in which he was sent to prison for three years for the misuse of public funds, and given an additional year for the falsifying of documents.
He’s also banned from holding public office for six years.
