A total of 55 people have been arrested across the country over the past month in raids against child pornography. News about the police operation, codenamed ‘Lobos’, has been released this morning.
The National Police say the group dealt only in ‘quality’ images’ and used encryption programs in an effort to avoid detection. Police say they have recovered 179 hard discs, 19 lap top computers, 17 other computers and more than 2,500 discs, mostly DVD’s.
A secondary school teacher and people of a range of ages from pensioner to several youngsters aged under 18 are among the 55 arrested, and a further 23 people are also facing other charges linked to the case.
