A third person has now been arrested in connection with the violent attack carried out on the home of a builder in the centre of Aspe in the early hours of Saturday.
The 37 year old Cuban, named with the initials A.G.R. is accused of being the third hooded man who threatened and held the builder and his wife for more than two hours, and who managed to initially escape the scene despite it being surrounded by local police and Guardia Civil.

The two other arrests, of two Colombians, aged 38 and 30, took place at the scene, and several items were also taken from the thieves, including axes, balaclavas, gloves, and a pistol. The first two detainees have already been ordered to prison without bail by the Instruction Court 1 in Novelda.

Police say the way the attack was carried out showed that the group of three had been studying the families movements for some time, and that they knew that the builder had money in a safe in the house in the central Calle Pedro Galipienso in the town. They threatened to cut off the builder’s ear to get the safe opened.
