The six crew of a Galician fishing boat, ‘El Tuly’, which went down 240 miles off the SE of the Canary Island of El Hierro, have been rescued from two life rafts on the sea.

They had sent out an S.O.S. when their boat started taking on water, and the Fishermen’s Association in Pontevedra has confirmed that all are now safe and sound, brought to shore on an army helicopter.

The 22 metre long, 28 ton, steel hulled El Tuly came into service in 1998.
