There is great discussion in Spain over the decision of the Ministry for Industry to increase the temperature for civil servant workers to 24 degrees centigrade.
The measure, designed to save air conditioning costs and energy is claimed by the Government also to be better for the workers. It has been introduced now following it’s approval by the cabinet last year and affects the summer temperatures inside all the central state administration buildings.
A note from the Industry Ministry has recommended workers to dress informally and not wear a tie unless completely necessary.
It’s thought it will see power savings of some 7% in air conditioning costs in such buildings.
