Thousands of people marched through Santiago de Compostela this weekend to mark the 4th anniversary of the Prestige Oil Tanker Disaster which saw local beaches and shellfish beds covered in tar.
Each year some 45,000 tankers pass by the Galician coasts with dangerous cargos and local people want greater safety measures.
Meanwhile experts consider that some 1,100 tons of fuel from the Prestige remains on the sea bed and a new study is being carried out following the appearance of new oil slicks.
In addition the Xunta de Galicia has admitted that 60,000 tons of the residues recovered after the accident, some 75% of the total, still remain to be treated.
