A retired Murcia priest has been found murdered

The body of a 75 year old priest was found tied up in his home in Murcia City on Wednesday: he appears to have suffered a heavy blow to the head with a hammer.

Named as 75 year Salvador Fernández Ciller, he was found at midday by a neighbour who has a key to the house, and who became concerned after not having seen him for four days.
Reports indicate that he may have died some days ago.

Salvador Fernández Ciller was retired and had spent many years working as a missionary in South America, before returning to Murcia 19 years ago, where he acted as parish priest for two churches.
